Managed Print: What to Watch for in 2013

Posted on Mon, Feb 11, 2013

This year, be on the lookout for reduced spending as MPS gains momentum. Here are three emerging trends in managed print services.

Cost Savings

As noted in a recent webinar presented by Christine Kwik, Director of Professional Services at Konica Minolta Business Solutions, cost savings for MPS buyers are expected within:

  • Supplies
  • Hardware
  • Supplies stocking
  • Support calls
  • Space

After companies first implement managed print services, they will cut costs by an average of 30%, according to research and consulting firm, Photizo. Additionally, they will reduce their hardcopy fleet carbon emissions by 60%. The bottom line? Implementing a managed print program can improve your bottom line!

Increased Sales

More and more people are continuing to learn of MPS and are finding value in its offerings. Kwik’s webinar noted that in November 2008, a search on the Internet for the phrase “managed print services” resulted in 284,000 hits. On November 28, 2012, the same search resulted in 9,220,000 hits. Primary drivers for MPS adoption include:

  • optimizing, transforming and streamlining your printer and/or copier
  • MFP fleet for efficiency

Mobile Printing

According to Forbes, enterprise tablet adoption will grow by almost 50% per year. Due to this adoption, mobile printing will continue to be a trend that makes headway over the next several months. This technological advancement offers the convenience of printing directly from your mobile device to any printer in your network, without ever laying a finger on a PC.
