Best Honeywell Barcode Scanners of 2016 for Manufurers

Posted on Mon, Oct 24, 2016

Finding the right Honeywell barcode scanner for your manufacturing business comes down to specific tastes and what your business needs. You understand your production process better than anyone else, so whether you need hardware for on the manufacturing floor or something at the shipping manifest computer, there is a device for you. Here are some of the best Honeywell barcode scanner options available in 2016.

Small Manufacturing Desktop Scanners

Whether scanning in shipping barcodes or scanning a product to identify stock numbers, you need something that is easy to use and doesn't take up a large amount of room. In this case, the Voyager lineup of scanners, such as the 1202g-bf and the 120Xg are both quality options. These two barcode scanners are not only handheld scanners for when barcodes are located in odd locations, but the docking stations hold the devices in place so you can also use it as a traditional desktop barcode scanner. The Voyager 1202g-bf comes with battery-free charging and is wireless. The Voyager 120Xg comes in both wired and wireless designs, although it takes scanning up a notch as it can read poorly produced barcodes, including imagery damaged from water. If you deal with the elements within the manufacturing facility, the Voyager 120Xg is an excellent Honeywell barcode scanner.

Industrial Scanners

When up away from the desk, you may have employees walking the production floor, scanning invoices and taking stock. These devices need to be both rugged and durable. This is where the industrial scanners come in.

The Granit lineup is an excellent offering of industrial scanners. The entry level Granit 198Xi scans both 1D and 2D barcodes at a distance of up to 50 feet. After all, if the barcode is for a stock or product out of reach, instead of retrieving a ladder or cart, the Granit 198Xi can scan the necessary distance. The Granit 1280i builds on this capability as it pushes the scan distance to 54 feet and can get in as close as 3.5 inches, so even in close quarters, the hardware does the job.

Wearable Barcode ScannerHoneywell Showcase

Sometimes constantly reaching for a barcode scanner just isn't conducive for a productive employee. If the individual uses their barcode scanner a good amount of the time but also needs their hands free for other work, a wearable barcode scanner is the way to go. In the manufacturing world, you often need both hands, and yet you can't put everything down to grab a scanner (such as on a conveyer belt). One of the latest scanners from Honeywell is the 8650 Bluetooth Ring Wearable Scanner.

The 8650 comes with an arm unit that attaches to the arm through two watch-like stripes. The scanner then slides over a finger, like a large ring. This allows the wearer to still use all of their fingers without being weighed down. Plus, the scanner is able to read both 1D and 2D barcodes. It works via Bluetooth, so the information is transmitted to a connected computer. It does need to be within 30 feet of the computer or other input device, but when synced with a laptop or tablet, this isn't an issue.

Whether you decide to check out a single Honeywell barcode scanner or you opt for a few different designs, you are sure to find something that works. These are some of the latest 2016 models, but even some of the older models from the company provide excellent features that are budget friendly as well. Whatever you decide to go with, Honeywell stands behind its hardware so you know you're receiving a quality product.
